A little about me

I am going to do a non nail polish post!  I have had a few comments that people don't mind my ramblings about things other than polish, so I figured I would give you a little info about me...  ( I am kind of boring, sorry!)

First, my screen name is a mash of my real name.  Amber of course is my real name (my mom was smoking something I think- it wasn't a very popular name in the 70's!) The Ski part comes from my last name, which is verylongpolishnameski (haha).  My smarty pants mother suggested when I got married to hyphenate my maiden name and my last name like she did, but my maiden name was just as long!  I didn't want to try and write out reallylonggermanname-verylongpolishnameski everytime I had to sign my name, LOL!

I am a stay at home mom, currently looking for a work from home job.  I love staying home, but sometimes I miss talking to grown ups.  The Princess has very good conversation skills for a three year old, but I can only take but so much talk about barbies and cartoons! My son is 12, and a gifted child.  That makes life difficult some days because his homework (at the middle school level) is sometimes harder than what I remember high school homework being!  They make him take Latin- in the 6th grade!  I hope that he does well though, college is something that I don't know how we are going to pull off.

I have been married for almost 13 years (eep!  hope that isn't bad luck!)  Mr. Ski and I actually met in a bar about 15 years ago...  I was his favorite waitress! : )  We hit it off, and the rest is history!  We actually didn't get married until AFTER I found out I was pregnant, but we had talked about it and we were living together already.  Oddly enough, my mother was encouraging me not to get married for a while- my half sister was 3 before she married my stepdad.  (My mom is weird.)  My dad passed away before I got married, so I don't know how he would have felt, but he didn't like Mr. Ski- probably because he didn't like any one I dated! Oh, and here is a fun fact- my stepdad is less than a year older than Mr. Ski!  Go mom!

I am the oldest of 4 girls, the youngest being my half sister, who is a senior in high school.  I realized this year that I am exactly twice her age, and I could be her mother- ugh!

I love to read, I read just about anything.  Mr. Ski says I have a bizarre knowledge of serial killer facts because I read too much true crime.  I love mysteries, some vampire books (yes, I have read all the Twilight books) and Harry Potter.  I read most of Ski Jr.'s books too, just because it is something to read!
